Focus on the positive. There are countless people out there who would do anything to get a job where the money is ok. Others are losing everything out from under them-be glad you aren’t with them.

The home improvement business won’t come back until housing is appreciating in value again. That won’t be anytime soon. You could hope it might be in 3 years or so, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s another 10 or 15 years before we’re in an extended boom period again for building. Historically, building has been far more up-and-down than it was for a decade or more, and major depressions like we’re experiencing now have lasted for 15 or 20 years sometimes.

You’re in the wrong business, I don’t know where you’re at, of course, but my business, the home repair and maintainence business, although somewhat slower, is still going strong. I’m 66 nearly 67, self employed, work alone most of the time, and fix just about anything. If I can’t fix it, I probably know who can, and for a reasonable cost. I have over 1500 customers who call everytime something breaks.
